38 local governments getting grants to speed up home delivery

The BC government aims to speed up in delivering more homes to people through 38 new grants.

The province says these grants will go to 38 local governments, with the goal of making a more efficient development approval process for homes.

This comes as part of the Local Government Development Approvals program, one that focuses on giving homes to those in need by implementing practices and developing new ways to support housing organizations, developers, and stakeholders.

Minister of housing Ravi Kahlon says they’re leaving no stone unturned in delivering more homes to people.

$4.4 million has been provided to these governments, with six of them on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

They include Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, Mount Waddington Regional District, Nanaimo, and the Sunshine Coast Regional District.
