A popular trail on the Sunshine Coast has been upgraded just before the summer season.
In a release, Sunshine Coast Tourism announced that the Big Tree Recreation area in Halfmoon Bay is now rehabilitated for visitors, with an upgraded trail and picnic area, new washrooms, an interpretive sign and map, and protected cultural heritage all part of the site.
Executive director of Sunshine Coast Tourism Annie Wise says these enhancements are part of their commitment to keep tourism development sustainable.
“Visitors now have better access and facilities to connect with the Sunshine Coast’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage,” said Wise.
They say the upgrades were made through a $300,000 investment from the Targeted Regional Tourism Development Initiative.
It’s a provincial initiative aiming to support tourism infrastructure projects in both the Sunshine Coast and qathet Regional Districts.
