Powell River mayor Ron Woznow is wishing the city a happy festive season, while looking forward to what might come in 2024.
Woznow says right now, the city is in a “transition period,” with lots of new opportunities on the horizon.
“While what comes next is unclear, I know that 2024 will bring opportunities. My priorities will be to help attract new businesses to Powell River and identify partners who will develop some of the city’s 150 properties for residential, commercial, and light industrial spaces,” said Woznow.
“These developments will include space for childcare centres and meeting rooms where young people can meet and interact over games and art.”
Woznow adds that over the last year, he has had the opportunity to meet with residents, business owners and community organizations, including ratepayers’ groups, sports teams and seniors’ associations.
“I heard, firsthand, about their love of living in Powell River and what issues are the most important to them – housing, taxes, roads and safety,” said Woznow.
Woznow adds he hopes to start the “Meet the Mayor” gatherings with councillors to answer your questions in the new year.
