Council will discuss this week what to do with two plots of publicly-owned land.
At its April 3 meeting, Mayor Ron Woznow introduced a notice of motion, which directs staff to “prepare and proceed with an expression of interest” for the sale or lease of the old arena and golf course lands.
There was no discussion on the motion, which will come before council at its meeting this week.
The city has been trying to decide what to do with the lands for years, including a suggestion last year to turn the old golf course property in Townsite into a conservation land trust. More than a decade ago, the arena lands were pitched as the perfect site for a new library.
More information will be available at the Thursday council meeting, when council will vote on Woznow’s motion.
